Boy Did I Retire at the Right Time!

I am a retired California teacher (since 2015) after 29+ years in California high schools.  The state has become a zoo, and now so will the classrooms.  AB 493 would require teacher training in LGBTQ ideology.  SB 419 will make suspensions for, among other things, unruly behavior almost non-existent.  For teachers, it’s like being wheeled into the operating room and seeing the medical staff armed with sledge hammers.  There won’t be much improvement in your condition but there will be a big mess to clean up.

493 takes teachers out of the classroom to be indoctrinated in all things sex-related.  The propaganda line is as follows: Forget the Bible and millennias of understanding and accept the idea that a person can will themselves into another sex.  Transgenderism is an important part of the coursework.  Of course, we can’t do the same thing with race or ethnicity.  Remember cultural appropriation?  We can’t do the same thing in regards to height or long fingers.  But teachers will learn that genitalia and chromosomes don’t matter.

I know; I know.  The ideologues have a chest full of rhetoric and vocabulary to make others well-versed in the pseudo-science.  Just remember, this isn’t the first time “experts” were enthralled by intellectual mumbo jumbo.  Remember phrenology?  Remember eugenics?  If you do a deeper dive, you’ll find more bunk.

If that isn’t enough, 419 moves the schools further down the road to a suspension-free utopia … or maybe dystopia is more accurate.  A school is commanded by the ideologues in Sacramento to jump through more hoops before a kid can be suspended for unruly behavior.  It’s not as if schools already don’t do this.  They do, and a lot.  In some cases, too much.  Nikolas Cruz of Parkland fame benefited from this bend-yourself-into-pretzels disciplinary regime.  Last year, California’s Kern High School District teachers rebelled against the imposition of the “restorative justice” flim-flam.

So, the not-so-golden state will have boys-now-girls in the girls’ bathroom, locker room, track team, soccer team, ….  Chaos in sex and gender will be supplemented by classrooms that more resemble prison riots.  Teachers might begin to act like the Lloyd Bridges air traffic control character in “Airplane”: “Looks like I took the wrong week to quit ….”

“Steve” (Lloyd Bridges) sniffing glue in “Airplane”.

The whole situation will drive teachers to more than the bottle.  It’ll drive many out of the state … if they remain sober enough to operate a U-haul.

Settling Controversy By Diktat

Below is a video from Mearns Academy, in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, which went viral in June of 2019, of a teacher who removed a student for stating that there are only two genders.

In my mind, the remarkable thing about the incident was the teacher’s frequent reference to “policy”, as in the school’s and government’s policy of recognizing more than two genders settles the issue enough to squash dissent.  It’s an approach that seems to be seeping into most areas of public life.  In other words, be silent if you disagree with the powers-that-be on an issue that is inherently open to dispute.

Yes, open to dispute.  Elementary logic makes it easy to challenge this most modern of contentions.  Yet, the enthusiasts for 40 or so genders try to swamp opposing voices with, in essence, a politicized résumé.  The tactic is to prepare a list of gullible Ph.D.’s – ones with prejudicial sympathies for the claims – make sure that they occupy powerful positions in the relevant professional associations who have an instinct for political adventurism, and have a fervent activist base – size doesn’t matter, approximation to political power does.  In that way, logic and facts get overwhelmed by the loud volume of an intense few.  Education is bedeviled by the technique, as I can attest from personal experience.

For an alternative view of transgenderism, go here.

What it comes down to is a person’s self-assertion that he or she (or whatever) is the opposite of his or her (or whatever) chromosomes.  Rhetoric, verbal distinctions, and analytical procedures to identify “legitimate” claims are invented to bolster the new “science”.  If the purpose of the process is to winnow out the dubious from the genuine, the filter has holes the size of railroad tunnels.  If this is science, it is of the sham variety.

We’ve been down this road before with eugenics and racial purity.  And we might have to add overwrought “climate change” to the list.  So-called “science” is just as vulnerable to fanciful popular trends as hemlines and music.

At the end of the day, what have we done?  As is usual in these kinds of things, it’s the young who pay the price for our impulsiveness.  They are injected with pharmaceuticals at a young age in preparation for surgery later.  The drugs will stunt their development and the surgery is irreversible.  But by then, it’s too late.  A change of heart just became meaningless.  With transgenderism, you might as well repeal the Hippocratic oath.

The problems don’t stop there.  Girls’ track, swimming, soccer, etc., or girl’s anything, will have been made nonsensical.  The inherent advantage of the transgendered girl over those whose mental state aligns with their chromosomes means that past-boys will dominate present-girls.  I wonder about the survival of the longstanding feminist push for sports equity when the boys-now-girls are harvesting the majority of girls’ sports scholarships and dominating the record books.  We don’t have to much worry about the process working the other way.

This is what happens when government wades into a controversy in favor of the side obviously lacking in merit but nonetheless having proximity to power.  Government diktat overwhelms debate and discourse, and helps to produce viral videos of public employees shaming dissenters even though the dissenters have the stronger case.  Is this any way to run a citizen republic?

A Pandemic of Urban Legends

Candidate Obama in 2008 came out with this zinger of condescension about folks in the hinterlands: “They get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations”.  It’s as if the blue-collar dwellers outside the east and west coast soirees of the well-off are wallowing in falsehoods.  Really, the urban fashionistas believe this drivel.  Though, the pot-and-kettle thing keeps passing through my head.  The self-proclaimed haute couture in look and thought have their own bigoted, ignorant fictions bouncing in their craniums.  Legends abound in Appalachia and among the coastal with-it.

Pres. Obama with Spielberg and Bruce Springsteen at a 2014 fundraiser.

Widespread oppression of the “marginalized” – a special designation awarded to any group organized and loud enough – is gospel among the beautiful people.  These people haven’t left the world of the “Mississippi Burning” script. To them, the “oppressed” are abused up and down the US interstate system.  Big journalism acts as the modern Hesiod of these urban legends.  Mythology isn’t an ancient phenomenon. It’s alive and well among attendees at Dem Party fundraisers.

But wiping egg off the faces of urban America’s “better” people is developing into a habit.  Jussie Smollet is one among many rotten egg producers.  Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, Cory Booker, Maxine Waters, the functionaries at MSNBC, the networks, Hollywood, WaPo (The Washington post), NYT, et al – the list is getting too long – can’t wait to jump at the bait.  They w-a-n-t to believe the myth is true.  The only problem is that the playing field is littered with lies.

Let me count the ways.  Be prepared, the list is long.

(1) In November 2016, a Muslim woman at U. of Michigan caterwauled that a 20-something white male threatened to burn her if she didn’t remove her hijab. The WaPo was hoaxed.  Hoax #1.
(2) Taylor Volk, a bisexual student at North Park U., said she was targeted with hateful notes and emails shortly after Trump’s election victory.  Hoax #2.
(3) In, once again, Nov. 2016, Ashley Boyer of Philadelphia blamed that staple of these fibs – white/male/Trump supporter – for harassing her with a gun and getting rid of the “n’s”.  The charge went viral only to be debunked by police.  Hoax #3.
(4) An 18-year-old Muslim woman in Louisiana in Nov. 2016 (Getting the idea?) charged white men for robbing her and yelling racial slurs.  The only problem: it wasn’t true because she said so.  Hoax #4.
(5) In May of 2017, racial slurs, anti-gay insults, and Nazi references were spray painted on a church by, as it turned out, the church’s own organist.  The WaPo ended up cleaning its face of egg.  Hoax #5.
(6) An 18-year-old Muslim woman, Yasmin Seweid, of NYC in Dec. 2016 declared that she was assaulted by drunken white Trump supporters in the subway.  She confessed.  Hoax #6.
(7) Dec. 2016: David Williams of Denton, Texas, torched his own car and spray painted “n’ lovers” on his garage.  A police investigation exposed the scheme as a hoax, but not before David and his wife garnered $5,000 from a GoFundMe page.  Hoax #9.
(8) A Muslim student at Beliot College in Feb. 2017 found anti-Muslim smears on his dorm room door.  He did it according to the Beliot police chief.  Hoax #8.
(9) Synagogues and Jewish schools were the subject of bomb threats in March 2017.  Surprise, the peril was linked to Trump.  Well, a US-Israeli man was arrested.  Wait, the story gets richer.  An ex-reporter with The Intercept, Juan Thompson, kept the pot boiling with new threats to Jewish community centers.  He would be indicted shortly thereafter.  Hoax #9.
(10) In May 2017, racist, anti-black notes appeared at St. Olaf College.  The WaPo had to walk back their story after a black student was identified as responsible for the slurs.  Hoax #10.
(11) Racist messages – “Go home n***er” – were discovered at the Air Force Academy’s prep school.  Sadly for the hate-crime posse, one of the targeted black students was the author.  Hoax #11.
(12) A Kansas State University student reported to police racist graffiti on his car in November 2017.  Later he admitted to doing it himself.  Hoax #12.
(13) Racist graffiti is all the rage with hoaxers.  In Nov. 2017, racist graffiti was discovered on the mirror in a Missouri high school.  He prank was conducted by a “non-white” enrollee.  Hoax #13.
(14) A Texas waiter at an Odessa steak house Facebooked in Dec. 2018 a racist slur on a napkin, and it went viral … of course.  The only problem: The waiter admitted to faking it.  Hoax #14.
(15) The Covington Catholic High School episode of Jan. 2019 was a disgrace.  The WaPo and the Detroit Free Press were all over the story with an account of an elderly Native American being abused by prep-school white boys in MAGA hats.  The story as it ran in the media – to put it mildly – was misleading.  The Black Hebrew Israelites taunted the kids with vile insults and Nathan Philips (the Native American activist) provoked them by incessantly chanting and pounding his drum in their faces.  Hoax #15.
(16) A spate of anti-Semitic vandalism hit NYC in Nov. 2018.  It turned out that the culprit was a Democratic party activist and former City Hall intern, not a follower of Alex Jones.  Hoax #16.
(17) Donald Trump was blamed for the arson of a black church in Greenville, Miss., back in Nov. 2016.  The WaPo must have been embarrassed when a fellow black congregant was fingered as responsible.  Hoax #17.

The Greenville, Miss., episode of a false hate crime.

(Thanks to the Daily Caller for the list.)

Why the mad rush to believe the unbelievable?  The answer might be found in the need to validate a pre-recorded fable of the world.  Traditional journalistic skepticism be damned.  It’s full-speed-ahead toward a much too deeply rooted folklore in our commercial and media centers, aka big cities.  Big media has been caught in too many falsehoods.  Their credibility is shot.  If they can’t deliver reliable news and information, what can they serve up?

A void exists to be filled by the rhetorical burps of Twitter and Facebook and the retinue of “fact checkers”, and they are linked in a miasma of interrelationships.  Facebook, for instance, uses Snopes.com to filter “fake news” and hate speech.  Snopes is a mess, if court documents in the divorce of the married co-founders is any indication.  Former candidates for political office (on a “dump Bush” platform), prostitutes, vixens with a “dome” complex on pot, and no functioning standards of objectivity are rampant (reported by Forbes and The Daily Mail).  A fact-checking degree is offered at some colleges but that’s no guarantee.  Naïve and left-leaning 21-year-olds aren’t about to produce the gospel.

What we are left with is each one of us running to our corners with our personal “truth”, emotional explosions when faced with pushback, no deliberation, and a mountain of urban legends that are held in a death grip like a Bible in a foxhole.

A Preferred-Gender Exemption to the Rules of Decency

The new lynch mob: Senate Judiciary Committee member Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., joined by from left, Sen. Mazie Hirono, D-Hawaii, Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., and Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas.

Decency requires much more from an accuser than a ballistic and life-changing charge against another person. Try proof. Instead, we are getting a claim of preference for a person with the preferred genitalia. Lacking any evidence – and as the evidence mounts contradicting the veracity of the accusers – we are asked to jettison the requirement of simple proof and accept the story solely based on the gender of the accuser and nothing else – indeed, in spite of everything else. In the meantime, the accused’s life and name are left hanging in the balance for all time.

Making perjury acceptable? Christine Blasey-Ford, Deborah Ramirez, Julie Swetnick (l-r).

Please, don’t come to the defense of Blasey-Ford’s unsupported story by citing other unsupported stories. That’s just lining up the attention-seeking partisans willing to take one for the partisan team. Their stories are dissolving like salt in boiling water.

Blasey-Ford’s story is taken as “compelling” only because she performed in a sincere manner. It’s a performance-based judgment. If you support her, I hope that you don’t face an accuser who only performs well.

Well, her whole story is teetering like a drunk after the Super Bowl. The fear of flying, ha! (See the transcripts – see my previous post for the reference) The second door installed in her house due to claustrophobia, ha! (See the contractor’s notes) The unfamiliarity with polygraph tests, ha! (Her ex-boyfriend’s letter) The claim of supportive witnesses, ha! (3 denials and 1 “can’t remember”) The claim of ignorance about the Judiciary Committee’s willingness to come to her, ha! (Grassley submitted 4 documents asking to interview her in California)

All she’s got is her performance before the committee … and the zealousness of the looney-Left and their blue-bubble followers in the media. Maybe that’s the crux of the matter. Stories like this can only gain traction among people who lack self-awareness of their social isolation in the Malibu-SF and Acela corridors.

The lefty smear-merchants of today are actually making a case for the white female accuser of Emmett Till back in 1955. He was falsely accused and murdered. Always believe the woman, right? I only present the picture below to drive home the consequences of gender-based “justice”. It ain’t pretty.

Emmett Till’s mother, Emmett Till, Till’s open-casket funeral photo.

Have You No Decency, Sirs and Madames

Joseph Nye Welch, general counsel for the US Army, at the McCarthy Hearings, June 9, 1954.

I can think of no better response to the shameful display of Democrats at the Kavanaugh hearings than the one given by Joseph Nye Welch, general counsel of the US Army, to Sen. Joseph McCarthy in 1954: “Have you no sense of decency, sir, at long last? Have you left no sense of decency? Senator.”

No, few Dems in the US Senate have any sense of decency. Following the Lenin/Alinski playbook of the ends always justifying the means, they have championed baseless charges against Kavanaugh. Their goal is to stop the nomination at all costs, even if it means destroying people’s lives.

Blasey-Ford isn’t any help. Still, she can find no one to validate her story other than her personal feelings. Others mentioned in her story deny it. That’s not validation, Christine; it’s therapy.

If anyone thinks that there is any credibility to these wild claims, that person should stay away from the Kool-Aid punch bowl being served at MSNBC. In summary, there is no corroboration for any of it. And if there is no corroboration, there’s no there there. The whole thing is reminiscent of the child sex-abuse hysteria of the 80’s and 90’s and false accusations of campus rape by Mattress Girl, and those directed at a UV fraternity and the Duke lacrosse team. All won $$$$ in settlements for false charges and slander.

The Dems are playing the more-investigation card. Cut the crap. Translation: delay the nomination … forever. Their modus operandi involves making a baseless allegation no matter how wild, call for an investigation by anyone and everyone, gin up more baseless allegations, ad infinitum, till the Republicans or the nominee withdraws the nomination.

The problem for the more-investigations crowd: there’s no limiting principle. Easily conjured and baseless charges can be cooked up at any moment. There’s no end to it, particularly if you’re a conservative and Republican.

These claims would not be the stuff of investigation by a detective division or DA for long. There’s no corroboration and plenty of counter evidence. A statement would be taken and then the person would be shown the door. End of story. And that’s how real justice works.

Make no bones about it. From the gitgo, this is an attempt to prevent the president from exercising his Article II duty. And no concession is to be made for honor and decency.

Don’t conflate the Merrick Garland case with Kavanaugh. Garland’s nomination was treated according to the Biden Rule: no SC nomination approvals during a presidential election year. Sen. Biden (D, Delaware) stated it; the Republicans were faithful to it.

Shame on you, Democrats!

Happy Mother’s Day, 2018

If we can’t celebrate our moms on a special day for her, how can we, in good conscience, show deep and personal gratitude to anyone? A she – with the momentary assistance of a he – brought us into the world. In an age when women are pressured to stretch themselves thin by being a master of the universe, motherhood still makes all those other competing roles fade to insignificance. Literally, my very existence came from her. I thank God every day for having had my mom.

It’s time to resurrect motherhood in this era of declining birth rates and turmoil over marriage and genders. Mom, dad, and home need some burnishing, now more than ever. We can start by resurrecting the writings of Phyllis McGinley.

“Women are the fulfilled sex. Through our children we are able to produce our own immortality, so we lack that divine restlessness which sends men charging off in pursuit of fortune or fame or an imagined Utopia . . . the wholesome oyster wears no pearl, the healthy whale no ambergris, and as long as we can keep on adding to the race, we harbor a sort of health within ourselves.”

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms.

Equality Run Amok

International Women’s Day protest march in Sydney, March 2017.

I can’t help noticing it. One of the crazes of our times is the attempt to force equality in almost all its guises, a hell-bent exercise in the ludicrous and insane. While flitting about online this morning, even as I was booting up, the Windows 10 startup pic was graffitied with reminders of female underrepresentation in technology and inventions. And, of course, they announce what Microsoft is doing to even the score … as if “underrepresentation” was enough to embark on a major campaign to redirect the company’s resources. The tendentiousness of it is astounding.

And this coming on the heels of reading Heather McDonald’s speech at Hillsdale College in “Imprimis”.* Her thesis is the danger of “#MeToo” morphing into a jihad (my words). She recounts the orchestrated shaming that would make the Khmer Rouge proud. In America’s boardrooms, professional associations, and cultural centers, the suits are running to the hills with proclamations of their own efforts to even the score.

Heather McDonald of the Manhattan Institute.

Click on the link on the wallpaper and you’re sent to Microsoft’s “#MakeWhatsNext Patent Program” site. Hiding beneath the surface of these “programs” is a false premise: We are all the same and chromosomes are completely irrelevant. For these commissars, chromosomes should be put on a par with melanin. They assert that what is true for skin tone must be true for chromosomal development from blastocyte on. Really!

And to think that none of this matters to those caught up in the craze. Put your mind to imagining the consequences when a country tries to live a lie. No good will come of it.

Stress, anxiety, and chronic dissatisfaction may await as some women torture themselves to live a lie.

Flash: Greater Freedom and More Opportunities for Women Reduces Likelihood of Women in STEM — U. of Missouri Study

STEM = Science, Technology, Engineering, Math. And, if given freedom of choice and abundant opportunities, more women prefer other fields. Conversely, straitjacketing women through poverty, and cultural and legal devices, ironically means more STEM women (More or less is a percentage of a study population). The upshot: depressed countries meet the modern feminist ideal more than free, open, and prosperous ones. So, should we adopt the Sub-Saharan African model of social and economic organization to boost our female STEM numbers? And/or, should we continue our efforts to artificially construct the new woman according to recent Hollywood stereotypes?

Ban-o-mania

A current  incarnation of the urban sophisticate is the “hipster”. If I may be excused for engaging in a loose generalization, like other versions of the breed, they are equal parts confident, media-savvy, and clueless.  Prime examples of the cross-fertilization of fashion and politics, they are susceptible to pleas to prohibit almost anything presented as irritating and outside of their lifestyle experience.  They are one for the constituencies for ban-o-mania.

Don’t like something?  Ban it!  Why ban it?  Simple: it’s too jarring to the mind of your average urban and self-anointed sophisticate.   That mind is riddled with the prejudices, half-baked ideas, and unexamined assumptions of a person limited to the secular equivalent of a mountaintop monastery … without the serious study of real monks (“echo chamber” keeps popping into my mind).  Ban-o-mania reigns supreme as the preferred option for anyone within the materialist abbey, while adversely affecting everyone  not so mentally and geographically insulated.

The locations for the secular monasteries generally matches the 2016 election map.  Below is a precinct-by-precinct rendering of the 2016 election results. (1)

2016 election results by precinct. Blue is for the Democratic candidate, red for the Republican.

The blue dots on the map are outposts serving as the intersection of radical chic in culture (some might call it “lifestyle”) and politics.  The journalist and essayist Tom Wolfe had a great time back in 1970 with an exposé of cosmopolitan affections for radical left politics of the time. (2)

New York Magazine cover, 1970, with Wolfe’s “Radical Chic” essay.
Leonard Bernstein (seated at center), his wife Felicia Montealegre (left) and Don Cox (standing), Field Marshal of the Black Panther Party in the Bernsteins’ 13 room penthouse on Park Avenue in Manhattan, January 14, 1970

I won’t speak to the map’s much rarer blue blobs – I suspect these to be mostly concentrations of post-1965 Immigration Act ethnic and racial minorities and Indian reservations- but today’s metropolitan islands have persisted in the habit exemplified in Leonard Bernstein’s fête to the Black Panther Party.

Though, a vocabulary update to “radical chic” is in order.  Yesterday’s “radical chic” is today’s “cosmocialist”, a marriage of “cosmopolitan” and “left-liberal”, typically among our tech elites but also littered throughout most of our corporate and academic boardrooms (hosannas to Reihan Salam for bringing the term to my attention [3]).  The “left-liberal” side of the equation is an infatuation with imperial environmentalism, high taxes, and almost anything “anti-poverty”.  “Cosmopolitan” is a reference to suspicion about regulation (except, of course, of the enviro variety, a huge contradiction), big labor (even though the teachers’ unions are 100% socially and 80% politically aligned) , and a fondness for open borders and multicultural everything.

Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg (left) with California AG Kamala Harris in 2015. (Reuters photo: Robert Galbraith)

Oh, let’s not forget their contempt for traditional institutions.  The Bible as the Word of God, Christianity as understood for millennia, marriage, and morality don’t stand a chance in these micro-universes.  Currently, transgenderism has pride of place.  As a matter of fact, they have conjured “equality” into behavioral license.  Any coupling and self-concept among and within humans must be granted sanction by the state.  Those who disagree face ostracization, loss of livelihood, and censorship.  Is confinement next?  Has it already started?

Now we are well on our way to ban-o-mania – the frenzy to prohibit counter-thought, and counter-things.  If only Orwell was here to see it.

It’s become next to impossible to talk about these kinds of things without mentioning California, ground zero for cosmocialist social and political tinkering.  Bans on things previously considered innocuous are becoming increasingly common in this political zoo.  Examples are many.  The state couldn’t refrain from an assault on, of all things … free plastic shopping bags.  The usual suspects crafted Prop 67 – the always fashionable environmental lobby – and the always fashionable electorate, dominated by its always fashionable coast, approved it in 2016.

Grocery shopping in the not-so-golden state instantly changed from this:

to this:

Bring your own bags: filthy, torn, too small,  not enough, or spill out cash to buy some more.  People in the zoo will adapt, no doubt.  But grocery shopping instantly became a bit more of an annoying experience.

Another example, this time from the elected “geniuses” in the state’s madhouse, called a “legislature”: marketed as an animal welfare measure, the inmates passed AB 485.  It would ban the sale of dogs, cats, and rabbits if they didn’t come from shelters.  In essence, due to the way the law is written and it’s probably effects, say “bye, bye” to the ritual of taking the daughter down to the pet store to buy a puppy.  For Patrick O’Donnel (D-Long Beach), the bill’s author, pet militants like him can’t envision themselves doing it, so ban anyone else from doing it.  Such is the auto-reflex of the ban-o-maniac.  The legislation’s fate is in the lap of Gov. Jerry Brown, another cosmocialist. (4)

Assemblyman Patrick O’Donnell, D-Long Beach, and rescue dogs.

For the cosmocialist, dogs are cute; Christian fundamentalists are not.  The progressive fatwa against them has already begun.  With dim-witted sleight of hand, Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez Fletcher (D-San Diego) sought to impose her social opinions on the entire faith community in California.  Through legislation, she tried to nullify the Supreme Court’s Hosanna-Tabor decision that buttressed a church’s religious freedom exemptions to government’s contraceptive and abortion mandates. (5)  She preposterously claimed that the Court didn’t say what it said.  For the Court, religious freedom reaches out to longstanding church functions beyond the sanctuary.  She didn’t get the message.  Fletcher’s logic is the equivalent of a child’s attempt to make a parent’s admonishment of “no” into “yes”.

Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez Fletcher (D-San Diego)

If mangling the Court didn’t convince, she tried the gender equality angle.  For her, the moral code in the Torah, Quran, and the Old and New Testaments must be sacrificed because a woman can show the results of a sleepover with her boyfriend.  Since women get pregnant, and men can’t (there’s no place to put the fetus), scripture must now go into the garbage disposal.  The minister can preach God’s law from the pulpit – I think – but, according to her, he shouldn’t be able to do anything about single moms and womanizers staffing his school (Was she trying to improve the job prospects for Bill Clinton?).  And this passes for serious thought in the California legislature?

A reprieve for Baptists was granted by Gov. Brown’s veto of Fletcher’s abortion to logic.  Don’t think for a moment that she and her compatriots have given up.

The Old Testament, evangelicals, pet stores, and traditional institutions are verboten to the tin-eared metro-chic.  Similarly verboten is a healthy skepticism about wild-eyed climate-change apocalyptics.  They won’t shrink from criminalizing, or subjecting to civil forfeiture, anyone who happens to make the mistake of conjoining a position of authority with cynicism about enviro end-times.  Metroplex electorates appear to have affection for Maduro-type (of Venezuela fame) DA’s and AG’s to accomplish the desired end.

Former California Attorney General Kamala Harris in September 2015.

Not wishing to leave California out of the scrum, former AG Kamala Harris (now Senator) joined the AG’s of New York, Eric Schneiderman, and Virgin Islands, Claude Walker, and Massachusetts, Maura Healey, to form an Inquisition to ferret out “counter-revolutionaries” to Al Gore’s fashionable doctrine.  It’s the latest craze sweeping the blue-dot jurisdictions: spend millions of dollars to haul into court the petroleum industry for questioning the supreme leader.  (6)  Ban-o-mania encompasses the campaign to silence opinions.

For everyone else without a corporate lawyer, loss of tenure, livelihood, or excommunication awaits.  It’s a reincarnation of Mao’s Cultural Revolution.  They’re making Mao proud … if the old bloody tyrant was alive today.

Public humiliation by Red Guards during the Cultural Revolution (1966-1976).
Cultural Revolution poster. Smashing the old to make way for the new.

The same is true for guns.  Guns are as gauche to the chic denizens of metropolis as the climate views of anyone not in tune with the fashionable orthodoxy.  Not surprisingly, respect for the 2nd Amendment fades as fewer and fewer people among the self-described “betters” in urban America have knowledge and experience with the things.  This is their mental picture of gun owners, a product of too much late-night tv viewing (late-night comedians, SNL).

Yes, it’s a plain old prejudice, but it matches their ignorance.  They live a life without firearms and so conclude nobody needs them.  It’s easy for urban electorates to grant the state’s vast prosecutorial powers to AG’s giddy with the prospect of hanging a few gun manufacturers.  The aforementioned Maura Healey of Massachusetts set her sights on Glock.

Massachusetts AG Maura Healey with Eric Schneiderman, NY AG, 2016.

Whatever their rationale, come on, it boils down to, “We don’t own them; therefore, you can’t either”.  Really, lifestyle is their governing north star.

The corporate boardroom is as populated with hyper-sensitive ban-o-maniacs as deep blue state attorney general offices.  The tekkie industry is particularly infected with them.  “Caution” is the watchword for any true free-thinker in these occupational habitats.  Just as Brendan Eich, co-founder of Mozilla, learned in 2014.  He was run out of his own company when it came to light that he contributed $1,000 to the California Prop 8 campaign to defend traditional marriage in 2008.  The lefty hive in Mozilla and Silicon Valley swarmed at the knowledge.

Ideological cleansing targets anyone outside the metro groupthink.  In Eich’s case, he cavorted with those who think that marriage is by nature heterosexual, and can only be homosexual if sodomy is accepted as the act of consummation.  Of course, consummation could be dispensed with, but then marriage is reduced to a state-sanctioned friendship pact with the option of wide open conjugal behavior.  The whole concept of “gay marriage” enters the grammatical territory of “non-sequitur”.  Such thinking, though, is assigned to the Klan in the blinkered imaginations of cosmocialists.

The lefty piranha weren’t satisfied with the corpse of Brendan Eich.  They will always need to feed on anyone with the temerity to express a different point of view.  James Damore fell into the infected waters at Google when he sought to explain the small presence of women in the STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) industries in words different from the politically correct orthodoxy. (8)

James Damore and Google

He presented the proposition that women are underrepresented due to the fact that fewer girls have inclinations for STEM, not because of some overhanging pall of misogyny. (9)   The snowflakes erupted and the impromptu inquisitors at Google went on a rampage.  Damore found himself out of a job, fired by Google CEO Sundar Pichai.

The “diversity” police went into action mode to defend the sanctity of the party doctrine.  Every one of the tech biggies has a Ministry of Diversity Truth.  They sprang in defense of Google.  At Google, its commissar is Danielle Brown.  Intel has commissar Barbara Whye.  Maxine Williams is installed at Facebook’s commissariat.  Helping the biggies is a nomenklatura of consultants.   Paradigm’s Joelle Emerson is an example.  All of them are the keepers of the diversity holy grail.

Paradigm Consultancy’s Joelle Emerson

The whole diversity shtick is profoundly open to question.  Yet, it is accepted as the closest thing to a self-evident truth among a class of people who have long ago rejected such truth when Thomas Jefferson in 1776 tried using the concept.  Their’s is a pseudo-science meant to perform an ideological function: widely propagate the dogma while simultaneously swamping disagreement.  They are the practitioners of the ban-o-mania of thought.

The tennis aficionado John McEnroe recently stepped in it when he declared what is obviously true.  Men and women aren’t physical equals on the tennis court.  For that, this time it was the equality police that leapt into action.

John McEnroe appearing before the press about controversial remarks.

McEnroe offhandedly stated in response to a question that Serena Williams would be ranked 700 among professional men’s tennis players. (10)  Boy did that get the ant hill all abuzz.  But for the equality commissariat, there was the disconcerting face-off in 1998 with a 203rd ranked men’s player, Karsten Braasch of Germany.  The Williams sisters were teenagerly brash and over-confident, bragging in the ATP men’s office that they could whip any tour player ranked in the top 200.

Braasch, ranked 203 at the time, overheard the remark and took up the challenge in a lark.  After playing a round of morning golf, Braasch arrived to play each sister one set.  The event attracted quite a crowd.  During changeovers, he smoked a cigarette and drank a beer.  He bested Serena 6-1 and Venus 6-2.  The Williams’ points had all the appearance of gifts. (11)

Was McEnroe all that wrong?

There is a sense of unreality in the blue-dot world.  The here-and-now must be made to conform to ideological fantasies.  In movies, women punch out burly men with skeletal and muscle structures that would collapse on contact if it didn’t occur before cameras and with the assistance of computer assisted graphics.  We might be able to accept these illusions since, after all, it’s the movies.  But the fantasies don’t dissipate after leaving the theater.  There’s legions of prosecutors, politicians, consultants, and academics devoted to making the movie unreality a real life reality.

To make it happen, massive mind control and social engineering are required.  All the tools of ban-o-mania are enlisted in the effort.  Ostracize, prosecute, legislate, fire, and propagandize (the Bolsheviks called it “reeducation”) anyone not in conformance with the cosmocialist zeitgeist.  The sad part is their push to take the campaign national.  Their appetites won’t be satiated with dominance over metropolis.

Watch out red America.  You’re one election away from being forced into living and thinking like a Greenwich Village hipster.  You may not know it, but you have a metaphorical bulls-eye planted on your forehead.

From Equal Opportunity to Fantasy

Thank God for removing barriers to women (pic 1), but why do we have to push it into the land of Orwellian delusions?  It’s as if there is a concerted propaganda campaign to habituate us into accepting the falsehood of the physical and martial equality of men and women.  A steady stream of TV shows (pic 2-3), movies (pics 4-5), commercials, and video games are perpetuating the lie.  Have you noticed?

As a result, we have the absurdity of trying to create a “fair” army, not an “effective” one (pic 6).  We have prepubescent, pre-teen girls taking roster spots on Little League teams (pic 7).

If biology is more than a social construct, estrogen isn’t a muscle-enhancing secretion – and the US Civil Rights Commission can’t make it otherwise.

Wait, before you brand me as a misogynist, please consider whether it’s in the interests of our girls to force them into living a lie.
